Good Friday

On this day, I always feel a dark cloud over my head.  When I think about Jesus who lived an unmistaken, sinless life died a horrible death to save me; Someone who lived most of my life without regard for anyone but myself. I am unworthy and tremendously thankful for the grace of God.
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies."
John 11:25

I love spring! The earth has such a different look when the drab, brown grass of winter begins to turn green, the bare, shivering trees begin to push forth new leaves.  Our little yard is covered with buttercups, tulips, and hyacinths poke their heads through the dark, damp earth. When the pink and white dogwood trees, the azaleas, the yellow forsythia, and the Bradford pear trees burst forth in all their spring glory, my heart swells. What a beautiful picture God paints in nature every year to celebrate the resurrection of His Son, to depict new life after death, glory following deepest sorrow. The season of spring is a visual confirmation of eternal life.
One day we, too, shall burst forth from sorrow, sickness, sin, and death with glorious, splendid new bodies to live forever and ever in the wonderful new home which our Lord has prepared for us. Because He lives, we too, shall live!
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the hope, the assurance of life after death, eternity spent in heaven with You and our precious Savior, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the beautiful picture of eternal life we see every spring. Amen.

Around here, we are getting ready for a neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt.
Happy Resurrection Friends!
