6 Month Sneak Peak

Dear Thomas,
The first picture has a certain sentimental value. You grandfather is THE John Deere man in all of West Tennessee. He sells John Deere equipment, which definitely qualifies him as a local celebrity. The hat you are wearing in this picture was a gift from him and the tractor you are playing with was your father's and has sat on your grandfather's desk for years.

We've Been Shot

We visited the pediatrician this week and we proudly report we have a healthy, happy, and BIG baby boy.

Thomas you weighed 19 lbs, 6 oz (90% percentile)

And were 27 3/4 inches long (75%)

You are never happy about getting shots. This time you gave the red faced silent cry. But by the time we made it home, you seemed to have shaken it off.

We decided to celebrate with pears.
Which you seemed to thoroughly enjoy.... until I took to much time taking pictures.

And just for a little flash back these were our numbers from the doctor's visit before.

You weighed 14lbs. 8 oz. (60% percentile)

And were 25 3/4" inches long. (50% percentile)

Here are some pictures from that day.

6 months

Thomas is 6 months old today!

Thomas you are:

-enjoying an array of vegetables; squash, green beans, sweet peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, zucchini. We have not started fruit yet. I wanted to get you loving those veggies first.

-not crazy about drinking water. I try after every time you have solids to give you a bottle with water. You take a few sips, and then upon realizing its water... completely lose interest.

-just starting to reach for us. This is something your Daddy has been trying to get you to do for awhile now, but last weekend while Mommy Bette and Pop were here you nailed it!

-taking your paci out and putting it back in by yourself. It may take you a few seconds to turn it the right way, but you get it.

-sleeping 12 hours a night! Too perfect, I'm counting my lucky stars for this.

-slobbering, slobbering, slobbering... drool, drool, drool! You are cutting teeth in a major way. None have poked through yet, but all the signs are there.

-sitting up like it's no big deal and putting both hands down in front of you... like in a crawl stance.

What is happening right before our eyes??!! Our baby is growing!!

Handy

Several months ago, when Thomas was around a month old, Brian started putting things in Thomas's hands. Things to help Thomas learn how to use his hands. I really think it has made such a difference. He is good with his hands and really has been for several weeks. And that's not just coming from a proud mom. Friends ( and even a complete stranger at Target, thank you sir) with children of their own comment on how good he is with them.
Did someone just pull up in the driveway?
Yay! Dad's home!

Mother's Day Out

Thomas started Mother's Day Out at our church this week. He will be going every Wednesday from 9-3. I am so thankful for this because it will give him a chance to play with other children and adults, and I will be able to do all the things that need to get done around the house. Ms. Sylvia has taken a liking to him already.

Sarah Rice Miller: The Lady and The Building

Thomas and I enjoyed lunch today with one of my most favorite people, Sarah Rice Miller. "Miss" Sarah, when she sends me notes she always writes her name that way, and I have worked together for the past 4 years. Technically "Miss" Sarah retired several years ago, but seeing as our (my old) office building is the Sarah Rice Miller Health Center she maintains an office. "Miss" Sarah is a nurse and, as public health advocate, been devoted to helping the people in our county for 70+ years. She treated us to lunch at the country club today and it was truly a treat. "Miss" Sarah loves me and I lover her... and it's good for my soul to see how much she adores Thomas. "Miss" Sarah is full of life and such an interesting lady. Listening to her has always been wonderfully entertaining for me.
