5 Months

5 Months ago today, almost to this exact minute, we welcomed you into our family. What a gift you are! You smile just about every time you make eye contact with someone.... even people you don't know. The other day you and I went shopping, I had you in your carrier, facing me just about the entire day. Every person we saw, seriously son it really seemed like EVERY PERSON, had to look into your carrier and check you out. It was like shopping with a little celebrity. Your big blue eyes smiling and cooing all day long.
As I walked around the stores laughing at all your funny faces and sounds, I saw things were being put out for Fall and one store already had things out for Christmas (in July?) I felt so incredibly thankful and humbled. We have so much to look forward to! Your first Christmas and your first time in a pumpkin patch! Your precious life is such a gift to your dad and me.
Alright, sorry for being so sentimental... on to the facts....

At 5 months you are:

-rolling over like a pro! The first time you flipped from back to front was on July the 5th. You were staying with your Mammaw and Pappaw while your dad and I went to see Wicked at the Orpheum. She called us and was so excited for you! She had laid a pallet out for you in their living room. Your Mammaw says you worked and were grunting for what seemed like 20 minutes. Ever since then there has been no stopping you. We lay you on your back... and you flip over!

-enjoying every last bite of rice cereal! At first you were a little confused about the taste and the whole spoon thing. But it sure didn't take long for you to figure it out.
Above was the very first time.
You caught on fast!
And now you LOVE it!

-HEAVY! At your four month doctor's appointment you weighed 15lb 10 oz. We weighed you today on our home scales and you weigh around 17lbs 12oz. Our big boy!

-almost back to sleeping through the night. At around 2.5 months you started sleeping through the night consistently. We would put you to bed at 10, and sleep until 5:30. That was your schedule until we went on vacation. You slept fine in Florida and then we got home. You started waking up 2, sometimes 3 times during the night. But those days seem to be over. Now you are going to bed around 8:30 and sleeping until 6. Your dad and I are very pleased!

-completely captivated by your feet! You have a grip on those things throughout most of the day!
-so cuddly! And I really love it! You love being held close. Sometimes in the mornings I'll put you in the bed with me and we just snuggle. I know these days will be gone before I know it, so I just breath it in, and relish every second.

Staying At Home

Our days together go by so fast I want to capture how we have been spending our time.
The other morning I could hear you in your crib cooing and sucking on your fingers, so I go in to scoop you up. This is what I walk in on....
Yay! Its you mom!Now I'm ready to be picked up!
Then we change into our swimsuits, and put on our sunscreen!
And try our best to get a picture together... By the time we get to the pool, its nap time.

Then pool time!
Get home and take a little bath.
Enjoy some tummy time.
And keep mom company while she's folding clothes.

This was our day, among lots of diaper changes several bottles, and a few meltdowns. I love you son and I have the most fun with you!

Lake Time!

We enjoyed the Sartin lake house last weekend. I know this will be one of your favorite places when you get a little bit older.
You loved on two of your favorite people, your Mommaw and Poppaw!

First Trip to Alabama

Thomas had his first visit to Alabama over the Memorial Day weekend. What would normally take about 5 and a half hours, only took just over 6. We needed to make two extra little bathroom and snack breaks. He was a superb rider!

As soon as we got into town, we had a very special visit from a very special person.....
AUNT CAROLYN!

Thomas enjoyed lots of this...

and this....

We tried for our very first family Memorial Day picture, and this was the result....
Thomas and Dad, were not feeling camera ready....
So, Dad took a nap on the couch, and Pop rocked Thomas to sleep.

Thomas had such a good time, he got to attend his Pop's first weigh-in, even though it rained so hard he had to wait it out in the car with his Aunt Mendy. When the sun came out we grilled out with Jeanetta, Glenn, and Be'la (my camera battery went dead, so we have no photos- I have GOT to be more prepared!). We can't wait to go back!
