The time has come for me to let you all know a SUPER HUGE deal that has gone down in the life of our little family.
First, let me give you a little background.....
After graduating from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in Finance, Brian went to work for First Tennessee doing mortgage loans. His actual job involved going over to another state, Missouri, and writing home loans. As you can imagine the name "First Tennessee" was an adversity. Thankfully that job was short lived because....well, we all know how that has gone down in the past 15 years.
At the time when Brian worked for First Tennessee his Uncle Steve (who you saw in this post) worked for a company in Dyersburg called Walton's Office Supply. Steve, like Brian and his father, is a natural salesmen. He's a talker....not unlike his father. We love him for that. Brian is a talker too; especially when it comes to 2 things: sports and business.
Steve left Walton's to open up his own business, so that left a space at Walton's. Brian filled that spot. Coming into that job he found a niche. Something he was really good at; Selling everything it takes to run a business. Over the next 12 years Brian changed companies 4 times. Everytime he learned lessons: Lessons on people, lessons in business, What to do and most importantly what NOT to do. He was "On The Anvil" so to speak.
The last company Brian worked for Brian got to be great friends with the owner. Rob is just a few years older than Brian and very much a talker. They had way too much in common. Rob and his wife, Micah, LOVE Thomas. I love them for that. To make a somewhat long story short, Rob and his family sold their company. He's laying on the beach right now if you know what I mean.
RJ Young was the company they sold to. A big company, a company that promoted Brian out of direct sales. He was now to be strictly managing people. Most people would have thought this promotion was cush and now he could lay back and enjoy life. Not Brian. Brian is a worker, he will do what it takes to succeed. And when I say succeed I don't mean to reach a certain level of success at 33 years old and sit back and enjoy life. The guy is driven. If that means unpacking boxes, delivering a 900 lb FireKing Safe up 5 flights of stairs, ordering lunch for an office full of customers, cleaning windows, etc. He works. He and my dad share that quality immensely. Brian has always said I'm not going to ask anybody to do something that I wouldn't do....He oozes humility. I've started bragging, let me get focused to wrap it up....
After prayer and prayer and prayer, Brian said to me, "I think it's time for me to do my own thing". "YES!, YOU CAN DO IT!" I was excited to say. Like no other time in our lives, we were in a place where we could take a chance. I know that this opportunity is what God was preparing us for. So Brian resigned from the buy out company and we are excited to say that our federal tax ID number went into effect for our "little baby" last Friday.
Brian bought the company that he and his Uncle Steve worked for. As you can gather from the logo above, He changed the name. We moved the location. For those of you in Dyersburg, Brian's new office (for the next 4 months) will be behind Edward Jones in the Java Cafe shopping center. Brian has 4 co-workers and no, I'm not one of them. I offered, he said no thanks. Hmm, not really sure what to think of that.
Brian will be selling supplies, furniture and equipment for offices.
Those of you in Montgomery think Harbin's/Stern Brothers, or Montgomery Office Equipment.
Those of you in Birmingham think Business Interiors.
Will you join us in our excitement? I'm totally bragging on my husband here but he was given a college education and a truck by his parents. He is 100% self made by the grace of God. Through his hardwork, and God's grace is he able to do what he is doing. I'm so very proud of him and his hard work. And more than being excited about our new business... I'm so happy because he is SO happy.
THANKS Y'ALL!
